Paramedics Naomi and Darnell are tasked with transporting a donor heart to an important but mysterious patient.  Accompanied by a security detail, their journey takes a disastrous turn when a storm forces them to reroute.

Attacked by a ruthless strike team hell-bent on stopping the heart from being delivered, Naomi and Darnell‘s perilous mission shifts from the city streets to the subway tunnels below them.

When an explosion cripples their subway train, they must find a way to elude their attackers and deliver the heart before it’s too late. 

ATRIUM is a five issue miniseries (22 pages/issue) and marks Comix Asylum's first creator owned title. Since 2014 Comix Asylum has covered the world of comics and entertainment via our interactive digital magazine and later through our website and YouTube channel. Comic books are our first love and we are excited to move from covering the industry to creating and publishing our own stories and adventures.

WRITERS 

Steve Bynoe - Steve, a former teacher with 22 years in the classroom, draws inspiration from his experiences as an educator and his lifelong love of comic books. Through his company Boeboe Creative, Steve has self-published novels including CHRONOKARI ALPHA: TIME IS RELATIVE, which he is currently writing and drawing as a comic book miniseries.

In addition to self-publishing, Steve is the co-owner, Editorial Director and a writer for the entertainment website, Comix Asylum.

Peter Van Horne - Peter’s journey into professional writing began as a contributing writer on the Comix Asylum website interviewing actors and reviewing films. His co-writing effort ENHANCED is available on Amazon and his screenplay TROPHIES is in the Coverfly Top 1% in Adventure. 

TROPHIES is currently a Quarterfinalist in the 2022 Page International Screenplay Competition, as well as Quarterfinalist in the 2022 Screen-Craft Feature Competition.

ARTIST

Lucas Filappi - Lucas Filappi is a Brazilian comics artist, illustrator and storyboarder. He has a Major in Design with specialization in Animation at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil), completing part of the degree at the Savannah College of Art and Design (USA) with focus in Sequential Art. Works on the market as a freelance artist since 2017. In 2019, started producing independent short comics available on online platforms, among them are “Haunted” with writer Alan Flores, recently published by Antarctic Press, and “The Castle” with writer Eder Bueno, published in Brazil by Editora Guará.

COLORISTS 

Nikos Koutsis - Nikos Koutsis is a Greek illustrator and comic book artist. Some of his career highlights are being the artist on the ERRAND BOYS miniseries (Image Comics), MIGHTY MAN one-shot (Image Comics) and STRETCH ARMSTRONG miniseries (IDW). He has also been the colorist on Erik Larsen’s SAVAGE DRAGON (Image Comics) since 2008 nonstop, among other Image, IDW and Marvel books including INVINCIBLE, IMAGE UNITED, 50 GIRLS 50, ANGRY BIRDS TRANSFORMERS, Walt Simonson’s THOR OMNIBUS and much more.

When he isn’t creating comics, Nikos teaches a comics workshop for his students at Vacalo Art & Design College.

Mike Toris - Mike is a comic book flatter/colorist based in Greece. Beginning his career in 2008, Mike regularly works on Erik Larsen’s Savage Dragon teaming up with Nikos Koutsis. Over his career Mike has worked on close to 5000 pages, mainly for US publishers (Image Comics, Marvel Comics, IDW Publishing) and several other indie comic projects for the U.S., Canada, Great Britain and of course Greece.

Mike has also drawn storyboards, illustrations, and concept art, for Greek shorts and feature films. Since 2018 he has been a member of Animatic Vision Studio, working as a colorist/letterer and a 2D animator.

Gregory Parkin - Gregory Parkin has helped to create and develop entertainment experiences for some of the world’s most loved and celebrated brands. As an artist, writer and stucko manager, Gregory’s work has influenced such companies as Lucasfilm, NIKE, Toys R Us, DC Comics, Fox Sports, Hasbro, Image Comics, Portfolio Entertainment, Royalty Genius, The Steve Nash Foundation and The Toronto Blue Jays. With a passion for comic art and developing visual marks for businesses and brands, Greg is also a dedicated father and this keeps him well connected.
